Get moving and the Bajaj V15’s lack of weight, its flickable nature and the easy leverage its handlebar offers, makes it a fun bike to filter through traffic with. If here’s any problem, it is the design of the fuel tank, which makes it difficult to grip it with the thighs properly. The seating is commuter-ish all the way and a comfy one. It has a wide handlebar, low seat height and neutrally positioned footpegs. Once you’re done looking at this new Bajaj (it is different looking but it still does catch your eye) and you hop on, the V15’s seating instantly impresses. The V15 is priced at approximately Rs 66,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It competes with the Hero Achiever, Honda CB Unicorn and the Yamaha SZ-RR Version 2.0. The brake setup is made up of a 240mm disc brake at the front and a 130mm drum in the rear. ![]() The 18-inch front wheel rides on conventional 33mm telescopic front forks while the 16-inch rear wheel rides on dual springs. This brings it to 13 bhp and adds a ‘one down, four up’ gearshift pattern. There is a new-for-2019 version called the ‘Power Up’ which offers one extra bhp and a universal gearshift pattern. This engine is mated to a five-speed transmission. It delivers 12bhp at 7500rpm and peak torque of 13Nm at 5500rpm. ![]() The Bajaj V15 gets a 150cc single-cylinder engine, based on the same DTSi engine from the Avenger. But at first glance you’ll be reminded of the Avenger because there’s a certain amount of design inspiration from the cruiser. In terms of design, Bajaj has stuck to a classic retro appeal, something this segment doesn’t have. The most interesting aspect of the V15 is that the bike contains metal from the INS Vikrant – India’s first aircraft carrier. Marketed as a stylish commuter, the V15 will sit between the Discover and the Pulsar range. The V15 is Bajaj’s first motorcycle under its new ‘V’ brand. ![]()
